PRIMARILY intended for protection of law enforcement
personnel by avoiding or minimizing the risk of infection from a bloodborne pathogen
or other bodily fluids of persons in their charge.
SECONDARILY, the nominal cost of the cover
and bag is recouped many times over as a result of the savings of personnel
time, vehicles "out-of-service" time, medical exams, seat and/or seat
cover removal and replacement, as well as the savings in preventing a trained
officer from having to do custodial work due to loss of bodily fluids from
individuals he or she is assisting in emergencies or from individuals being
arrested by the officer. The benefits of a single cover will more than
offset the cost of an entire case of covers and bags. The bags are
marked with "Biohazard" warning labels, as well as "No Sharps", and should
be used as temporary containment for soiled seat covers.
